The illustrations lack human faces (it has animals, builidings, landscapes, the sky, etc). Nonetheless each page is different and beautifully illustrated. It is recommended for 6-12 year olds, but if you read to them, I think it can be used earlier as well. I bought this for my 22 month old and I plan on simplifying the stories to her age. I must admit, I read the whole book myself when it came, and it is written very well for children, each chapter ending in a single sentence moral of the story. I'm certain parents will pick up a thing or two they didn't know, I did!
